Scholarships

In-Course Scholarships

Students registered in the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering are considered for scholarships after each academic year.  Some scholarships are based upon academic achievement; however, some awards have additional criteria (e.g. extra-curricular activities, financial need etc).

Please ensure that your On-line Engineering Portfolio is complete and up-to-date.  The Scholarships Committee will use the information in the Portfolio to assist them in selecting recipients for these awards.

Ontario Student Opportunity Trust Fund (OSOTF) Awards

In the case of all OSOTF awards, eligible candidates must be Canadian citizens or Permanent residents and must demonstrate financial need.  In addition, you must have lived in Ontario for twelve consecutive months prior to starting a post-secondary program.

Financial need is most easily demonstrated with receipt of OSAP for the current year. Other examples of financial need will be considered (for example, the financial portion of the On-line Engineering Portfolio. For admission OSOTF Awards, it is crucial that an admission applicant complete a  UTAPS application in order to demonstrate financial need. International or out-of-province students are not eligible for OSOTF awards.

External Scholarships, Awards, and Grants

Additional funding may be available from outside organizations, but it is often difficult to find this information. Human Resources Canada hosts a website that provides students with valuable information about financing a University education.  This website also allows students to add their names to a database that notifies students of awards they may be eligible for.

Please visit www.canlearn.ca for more information. Students should also check the scholarships bulletin board located in the Galbraith Building, outside room 153 for information about external scholarships for which they may be eligible. Additionally, the Faculty will use the information in the On-line Engineering Portfolio to assist them to identify potential candidates for external awards;  as such, it is important that your Portfolio is complete and maintained.
