Daily Backups

Daily backups of Unix home directories are available to all accounts.  You can access them by double-clicking on the ECF_BACKUP_DIRS icon on your Unix desktop.

You can also access the backups from a terminal window.  For example, suppose you wish to retrieve a file from November 7, 2008:

 % cd ~/ECF_BACKUP_DIRS        #  (~ is a shortcut to your home directory.)  
 % ls 
 20081101-Nov-01-2008  20081105-Nov-05-2008  20081109-Nov-09-2008 
 20081102-Nov-02-2008  20081106-Nov-06-2008  20081110-Nov-10-2008 
 20081103-Nov-03-2008  20081107-Nov-07-2008 
 20081104-Nov-04-2008  20081108-Nov-08-2008 

Pick the date you are interested in:

 % cd 20081107-Nov-07-2008 

Search the directory structure and copy the files you want back to your home directory:

 % cp assignment1.c ~/assignment1.c
