The Engineering Computing Facility is proud to announce the installation of 161 new workstations in rooms GB150, WB255, and SF1012. These computers replace the Dell Optiplex 745s that have served the engineering students for four years.

The new hardware configuration is:

Intel Core i7 2600 @ 3.4GHz

RAM

4GB DDR3 1333 MHz Dual Channel

128 GB 2.5” Solid State Drive

Removable Media

These workstations, with their four-core, eight-thread processors, consume 16% less power while providing a 330% increase in floating-point performance.

In addition to these workstations, ECF has installed 9 new Kyocera FS-9530DN (51 page-per-minute) printers in the labs, and also provides four workstations in the Engineering Annex for colour printing (Xerox ColorQueb 8870) and access to two HP ScanJet 5590 Flatbed scanners with automatic document feeders.
